This body has carried me for so long,
53 years she’s done me no wrong,
She birthed three children, experienced love,
She’s connected with the light up above.
She’s ran and jumped, skipped, and played,
Cycled, been a gymnast, performed on stage,
But there came a time, that we disconnected,
I forgot about her, and she felt rejected.
I didn’t listen to the calls she made,
To slow down now, and as she aged,
I forgot that she should really come first,
And stop all the pushing and quenching a thirst.
There were times I hated her, made her feel fat,
Not good enough and all of that,
I told her she needed to be taller and slim,
Forgetting that beauty comes from within.
And then she got angry and started to shout,
She showed me the pain of living without,
Love for myself and all that I am,
That love was never about the man.
Love is much more, than we’re led to believe,
It’s a state of mind and how we perceive.
My body she’s here as my vehicle,
And she has created sheer miracles.
She deserves to be loved, appreciated, explored.
She is a pure goddess, who won’t be ignored!
